Turner Contemporary - Monoprint

£45.00 - £105.00

This is a digital giclée print of an original handmade ‘hybrid’ monoprint.

I made the original monoprint by hand printing a linocut depicting the iconic view looking out from the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate onto a giclee fine art print of an original acrylic landscape painting of the Thanet coast in Kent.

The print is part of a series I created for Dreamland Print Fair, which was being filmed for a TV show. Inspired by Roger Deakins’ cinematography for Empire of Light, I wanted to capture Margate’s iconic architecture, wide horizons and filmic light. The result is a series of semi-abstract monoprints with cinematic quality, which I hope captures the essence of Margate.

This ‘hybrid’ monoprint is an example of how I like incorporate both analogue and digital print methods in my work. It also showcases my love for layering urban and Arcadian imagery.

The print that you are purchasing is an unframed digital giclée print on high quality, archival fine art paper.

The high quality 230gsm archival matte paper provides a smooth and durable finish and the giclée inks used are pigmented which ensures the colours remain vibrant and long lasting.
