About me

My work explores both my background as an architect and my love of the wide open coastal landscapes of Kent and the Thames Estuary.

I am inspired by the play of light in architecture and landscape and I make work by hand painting, duplicating, scanning and hand printing over my own images.

When making my work, I love to let incidental distortion, patternation and abstraction inform the outcome.

I like to combine paint and printing methods to affect depth of field. For example, printed elements can appear to sit flat on the surface, in the foreground.

On the other hand, painted elements can create a sense of depth - sitting out beyond the picture plane.

As well as painting, I also like to mix traditional and digital print methods in my work including cyanotype, screenprinting, monotype, linocut and digital Giclee printing.
